PACGDC Attends Summer Board Retreat

Board members of the Palo Alto County Gaming Development Corporation (PACGDC) traveled to Northwood, Iowa on July 15th for their annual Summer Board Retreat.  PACGDC met with three members of the Worth County Development Authority (WCDA) during their visit.  WCDA is the volunteer non-profit board holding the license and distributing grant dollars for Diamond Jo’s Casino.   Each year PACGDC selects an Iowa casino to tour and meet with its non-profit board.

“We gained ideas for changes we could make from WCDA’s practices.  Worth County is both similar in size to our county as well as the revenue they receive from Diamond Jo’s Casino.  We really felt a sense of county unity and pride, especially in what they do for education.  They prioritize the needs of the communities and then direct grants to those goals.  We picked up numerous ideas to bring back to Palo Alto County,” said PACGDC President, Renee Jedlicka.

PACGDC will be announcing mandatory educational meetings coming in early October for any organizations interested in applying for grant dollars.  The non-profit board is also seeking two candidates for board seats that will represent Emmetsburg or surrounding areas.  For more information on the grant process or application for board membership, please visit the PACGDC website at www.paloaltogaming.org.
